We have to admit, plants are antidote to our quarantine anxiety.
Pretty much everybody’s quarantheme has got to do with indoor gardening or back-to-basic slow living…all of a sudden, succulents are taking over our Facebook feed. It’s amazing how people are taking a pause and turning to nature to find a sense of balance while Mother Nature herself is undergoing a great deal of healing.
As for me, I’ve been grateful to be in one place long enough to watch some of my indoor plants thrive and grow, and for the first time, I was motivated to finally give succulents a try.
What’s the lure? Anacampseros Sunrise is
Look at them looking gorgeous without even trying….
This breed is said to have originated in South Africa.
I got these Anacampseros Rufescens ‘Sunrise succulent’ from a local grower, Plants & Plants. I thought that re-pottting these will make more room for growth and give the plants a fresh start. Plus, offsets growing from mature plants are a good indication that it’s time to graduate them to a wider (ceramic) pot.
Terracota or ceramic pots are highly recommended for succulents as they are breathable, allowing air and water movement through the sides.
My personal experience with these succulents is that they needed at least 4 hours of direct sunlight everyday in order to maintain their appearance (hot pink and green leaves combination). It’s quite a challenge to mimic their natural habitat and I normally keep them indoors in a well-ventilated area and close to a large window 🙂
My fascination with Anacampseros succulents led me to buy more succulents such as Sedum Burrito, Lipstick Echeveria, Kalanchoe to name a few…
Sharing with you some of my beginner succulent collection that I personally arranged….
We finally have extra time to do the things we’ve been putting on hold because we’re always on the go. Did you become an indoor gardener too? Till next time, take care : )
