I never really paid attention to how my eyebrows looked until I came to Singapore, lured by the refreshing store concept of Sephora with loads of options to sculpt eyebrows. I remember how it would take me 100 years to figure out and pull off a decent arch. I just didn’t get why eyebrows are a way of life. Geesh.
Fast forward to meeting Instagram and its strong selfie game later, I noticed how polished eyebrows give frame and structure to the face. Eyebrow ninjas call it “drawing”. I’m not sure if you can relate with me but my first attempt to “drawing” my brows didn’t look natural and flattering at all, it was overly done, wonky and tragic. It took me time to find the right brow tool that’s not too technical and time-consuming. I found different types from gel based, to powderish to liquid, there’s just too many ways and I don’t want to complicate a #firstworldproblem like that.
Long story short, I am happy to have found my 3 on-the-go weapons to up my eyebrow game. By “up” I don’t mean I’m slaying it like the hardcore black belter eyebrow ladies but just nice enough to lift my face up. Meet my brow charmers:
1.Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer (paraben free) – I can tell by the name it’s made for noobs like me, effortless. This is my favorite because of three reasons: The slim spooley brush makes it easier for me to properly align and discipline hairs into position. The triangle tip allows for precise drawing of the arc. Above all, it gives me a very natural, soft looking eyebrows that don’t look unkempt.
2. Nudestix Eyebrow Stylus Pencil & Gel (preservative free) – I don’t use the gel, the pencil is already pigmented enough and stays put for hours. Nudestix is known for their easy to apply make up theme and this brow pencil is very practical it only takes me seconds to set and go. It also comes in a tin case with mirror so it even makes drawing your eyebrows so easy even when just standing up or waiting for the bus (or is that just me?)
3. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse (paraben free) – this kit comes with a bamboo brush and a 0.12 oz of clay-infused brow mousse. This one takes some getting used to. It applies smoothly and fills in gaps to give my brows a defined finish. The mousse doesn’t come off although it can look like it.
So yup, those are my 3 swords to building naturally filled-in brows effortlessly. I hope I inspired beginners like me and those of you who feel shy to take the first step in the life-changing game of drawing eyebrows. Finding the right match for your eyebrows is essential, tell me about your favorite brow weapon too 🙂
